Jackson R. Hoerth

It started with a composition notebook in middle school that I shared with my friends with stories full of heroic adventures, high stakes, misspelled words, and plot holes. Eventually these tales merged into a single world and became the premise for my first novel. While unpublished, this work taught me many lessons about writing fiction.

I have a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Temple University. Diagnosed Bipolar 1, my research focuses on the imagination and a philosophic approach to mental health. In fiction, I seek to increase representation of mental health and neurodivergence through characters that neither stigmatize, tokenize, nor romanticize these issues.

My current project, The Lady Machinist, blends steampunk themes, magic, and a compelling mix of adventure, mystery, and romance.
